Wastewater Operator
Darling Ingredients Inc.
(Darling) is seeking a Wastewater Operator to oversee the operation of an industrial wastewater activated sludge nitrification and denitrification system located in Clinton, IA. The duties include 1) Providing direction, supervision and coordination of manpower, 2) Managing the operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of wastewater facilities, and 3) Managing the compliance activities associated with a State issued NPDES permit, which also includes land application and stormwater management. The position reports directly to the facility General Manager and the successful candidate will possess all or most of the following attributes:
• Two years progressively responsible experience in the operation of a modern water pollution control plant or other similar public utility, including considerable supervisory experience; or • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. • Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English ( operational, process, safety and quality instructions). • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. • Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, centrifuge, valves, gates, mixers, blowers, chemical feed systems, disinfection equipment, sludge processing, measuring/control devices, testing equipment, and material handling equipment. • Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control. • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily. • Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site. • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. • Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check
